Great Things in Store for Convention 2016!
by Sandra Vandertulip, President

TODA Members!  I am truly excited about this year's Convention and the great line-up of clinicians and events we have planned for you.

I am proud to present our impressive headliners: Dr. Bob Gillespie who leads one of the nation's largest string pedagogy projects at Ohio State University; Mr. Richard Meyer, a prolific composer for school  orchestra  from Oak Avenue Intermediate School in California and string editor for Alfred Music; and our third headliner is the Emmy-winning composer, recording artist, performer, producer
and inventor, Mr. Mark Woods, President and CEO of Mark Wood Music Products,
Wood Violins and Electrify Your Strings. In addition, we will have a special guest, Anthony Maiello, from George Mason University who has conducted the Presidents finest as well as the Texas All State Orchestra.  Your band friends will know who he is and will want attend as well!

This convention has many sessions for both high school and middle school directors alike.  And for those who want to branch out, we have sessions  in electric music, harp programs, technology,  full orchestra, sightreading, UIL - you name it!  You are going to want to stay from start to finish! Our board is working feverishly to provide you with the most amazing convention ever.

So sit back, relax, register, reserve housing, invite a friend to come along and see you all in San Antonio!!

Join the TODA Party!!
by Christina Bires, Secretary

Every year, we as directors, work to recruit and retain students for our program because we know the benefits of orchestra.  We spend countless hours thinking of new ways to invigorate and encourage students to join our programs.  Now it is time for us to think about ways to invigorate membership to TODA and CONVENTION!  We all need to become activists for our amazing organization!

If each member could personally ask one person to join TODA and come to convention, just imagine how many new faces we could all meet and network with! If you work with first-year teachers, student teachers, teachers who are new Texas, or even veteran teachers that aren't members, be sure to talk to them about the wonderful benefits in becoming a member of TODA and coming to Convention.
